Nor-Shipping BBQ

Business can also be pleasure. At the Nor-Shipping BBQ, 2 June 2021, Norway’s biggest garden party, fine food, drinks and (hopefully) weather fuel a unique networking opportunity for prime movers within the maritime and ocean industry segments.

This is the one place where shipowners, finance chiefs, politicians, industry leaders, tech pioneers and other key decision makers from around the world rub shoulders and relax in an informal, friendly, yet still business-conducive environment. But be warned, tickets are always in demand.

Since 1989, Nor Shipping has hosted the BBQ party during the exhibition. At first a relatively small, intimate affair, it has grown to become a sold-out highlight of the Nor-Shipping week, with some 2,500 attending.

Well known as an excellent networking opportunity, the event attracts top people from every segment of the industry – from executives to journalists, exhibitors to politicians – for a casual, outdoors “serve-yourself” dinner.

The guests mix and mingle as they are treated to tasty food and drink in a relaxed, social setting. Nor-Shipping veterans and first timers alike can easily make and renew contacts. The 2021 event will be no exception. Following tradition, it will be hosted on the grounds of DNV GL headquarters in Høvik, just outside Oslo.

According to the event’s caterers, the Nor-Shipping BBQ is the largest event of its kind in Norway. Twenty cooks prepare about 2,000 kilos of food, including grilled meats and vegetables, seafood, cold cuts and a selection of desserts, while 25 waiters will serve some 1,000 bottles of wine and 2,500 glasses of beer.
